THE LIFE OF POWER

After a triumphant life of obtaining eternal redemption for man, Jesus in his final words to his disciples enunciated in the book of Acts 1:8, “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. And this statement will go a long way to be the catalyst and the pillar of Christianity. Christianity was birth through the coming of the Holy Ghost on the apostles. And the ensuing effect of that was a life of power. Throughout the book of Acts, we can all bear record of the potent exploits of the disciples. They lived a life of power. They witnessed and testified of their master and Saviour with all boldness and power. And that is it. Christianity is a life of power.

Christianity is a spiritual life. A life that transcends this physical world. For many, they see Christianity as a one of the many religions in the world, in which man is trying to live a righteous and a holy life. Christianity is the execution and the entrenching of the Kingdom of God on earth. And that was the main reason Jesus came. He came to preach and sow the seed of the Kingdom of God in the hearts of men. That was his main occupation in his three years’ ministry on earth. And amazingly, that special undertaking did not end with his ascension, the apostles also continued in this same work and Christians all over the world have also taken the baton further to all the ends of the world. Until the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our God and of His Christ. Jesus will come again and reign forever for a thousand years in what we call the millennial reign.

Here on earth, our Lord Jesus did not leave his followers as orphans as it is enunciated in the book of John 14:16, And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever. And this comforter is the Lord Holy Spirit who endows us with power for the work of the ministry. Amazingly, many Christians are living a Christian life bereft of power. Christianity is the life of power. Jesus our master lived in this power and that is why he had the tremendous results he had. And as his acolytes, we could not do greater works like him if we refute the power of the Holy spirit in our Christian life.

As we have also come to know that, our Christian walk is not just a smooth one, but a warfare. And the Kingdoms of darkness will not be moved by your money, nor your fame, nor your certificates, nor your expensive cars. Satan and his demons will not bow down to name or fame. Rather, they will bow done to power. Sicknesses, infirmities, poverty, chronic illness will all disappear by power. For this is the life of Christianity. This is the life we have been called to live. It is imperative we are conscious of the power at work in us and use it accordingly. Just as the apostle Paul expounded to his son Timothy in the book of 1 Timothy 1:7, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. So keep living in dominion and power through prayer and confession of the Word of God. For that is what Christianity is all about. The Life of power.
