THE BLESSED HOPE
For uncountable times and numerous numbers of occasions, I have had to ask the question: What is our hope in this world? Living in a world where it seems things get worse with each passing day. From the political, social, economic, education, technological, scientific, industrial, entertainment, religious etc. It seems we are not coming back to square one. Things are moving further, deeper very fast and things are not getting better. So mostly when I think about the current state of the world, I quickly recall a poem I wrote many years ago titled, the nights are getting darker, but the lights are not shining brighter. That is the status quo of the current world. What is our hope in this world?
But to my utmost surprise as a christian, and a proud one for that matter, as I search through scriptures, I discovered something that is mind blowing. I call it the blessed hope….for all humanity and mankind. But then what is this blessed hope? The book of Titus 2:11 - 13 clearly gives as an amazing account about that, “… For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world ; looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ…”
From the scripture above, it says that, the blessed hope is the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ. Meaning the hope that will not fade or that is assured and will never fail is the second coming of the Lord Jesus to end all sufferings and evil on this earth. What an amazing relief for people like me. Jesus, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, will come again to bring justice and judgement to all the evil and the activities of the devil and his minions on earth. This is our blessed hope in Christianity. And I can assure you this is something that we will need in the years to come. For all the sufferings and the agony that mankind has gone through due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve in the garden: I think mankind deserve a perpetual respite from these woes. And thanks be to God that the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, my master and saviour will come in handy to assuage this enigma of man.
So this is the blessed hope, I have clung unto. I do not know your hope in this world. But one thing I can say for a fact is that, the man Jesus Christ, is the best thing that happened to humanity. You do not have to pay attention to all the hatred and lies that have been told about him. Jesus is the real deal. He has the ability to make a person’s life glorious and meaningful if you only choose to accept him into your life. So brother or sister reading this, if you are reading this, its never too late to accept him. And to tell you the truth, accepting Jesus as Lord and master, will be the best and unregrettable decision you will ever make in your life. So I will encourage you to accept him today by saying quietly from your heart the prayer below…
“Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God who died to pay the penalty for my sins. I open the door of my heart and ask you to be my Savior and Lord. I ask your forgiveness for all my sins. Please forgive my sins and help me to live for you.”
