A LETTER FROM 2031

Hello my old self,

If you are reading this then I like you to know I am currently writing from the future. Yes, 10 years in the future. Currently in the year 2030, I must say the world is much more complex to live in. A lot has happened. And the primary focus for the current state of the world is due to two cardinal factors. Global Warming and Climate change.

The world is better now with regards to what might possibly not be the best possible solution to climate change. But we are still surviving and alive. Education has taken on a great form. Students now don’t necessarily have to be enrolled in schools to be taught. You can just sign up to any certificate course at the comfort of your home. The focus of education in this current world is more geared towards solving future problems than just accruing extraneous knowledge. We in this current time believe, the fate of the universe is hanging in the balance. So, what a better way to prepare for the worst than to wait for the worst to happen unprepared. We pride ourselves to solve future problems that may inhibit the successive evolution of humanity. So in prosaic words, education had become better. The focus of our current education is not on getting a pass mark, but rather equipping students to be able to identify and solve problems even before they rear up their head.

Security, livelihood and basic amenities for living have also taken on a new phase. The issue of global warming has been something we have been able to reduce to its barest minimum. I can say, we can now predict a stable and neutral weather throughout the year. And to add, that has been a colossal upgrade in solar technologies. We are making use of the sun — to power many solar generators that have been designed to power many homes. So in 2030, there is nothing like someone owns a house, therefore he goes around collecting rent. People come together to buy or entrench a place of their abode. Food, water and basic clothes are quite cheaper. You do not have to stand in a queue to get such basic amenities. You can again stay in the comfort of your home and place your order via the internet and pay with a visa or credit card.

And I guess you may be asking where I am in all this this. Currently, I am physician assistant at a government hospital. I am getting ready to get married in three months. Good news Ah! Max my fiancée is director of a financial organization in town. And I bet, we have postponed the wedding four times. And why is this so? Because, I work a lot. We do not have enough time to meet and spent some time together. But we hope to fix all that after the wedding. Currently at the general hospital, I do a lot of work with the senior doctors and the nurses. Health Care in 2030 is transcendent. Medical care has advanced a lot. But we still have a long way to go, when it comes to curing illness such as cancer, and other genetic diseases. But in all, we have made tremendous progress and I will love you to see how we have increased the health stability rate of many humans. As I write to you I have four hours more to go back to work. I love what I do. And I hope you do not change your mind on choosing the course that culminated me into this job in 2030.

Finally I want to say, humans have also evolved in 2030. There have been many simple and clairvoyant ways of doing things and solving problems. I am writing this letter to you so you will be full of hope about the future. Because one thing I am wholly certain about the future it that, the world is becoming a better place.
